Baby Movie Review
Ratings: 4/5 Reviewer: Srijana Mitra Das Site: Times Of India (TOI)
Balancing characters, conspiracies and cities, director Neeraj Pandey admirably keeps Baby rich, yet tight, researched, non-sentimental and steely-eyed. Neeraj's craft has grown - he's taken trademark touches from films like Special 26 and A Wednesday, setting them here on a grand scale, with a breath-taking climax. The cinematography - desert dunes in nothing but shaded moonlight - is elegant while dialogues are robust. One of Baby's crew tells Ajay, "Tension kya lena? Ulta, aapke rehte, mazaa aata hai."Quite. This Baby's day out is deadly good fun.

Watched Baby. O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G. Neeraj Pandey proves his prowess yet again. Brilliant cinema!Baby is Akshay's best work. Rana Daggubati, Anupam Kher, Danny, Taapsee, Kay Kay, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Rasheed Naz - each actor is first-rate. Baby has engaging 1st half and a superb 2nd. The last 40 minutes are nail-biting with an edge of the seat finale. You just can't miss it.

On the whole, BABY is one of the finest films ever made in the history of Indian cinema. Not only because of its excellent cinematic credentials but also because of the balanced 'Thought' behind the film. Neeraj Pandey once again proves that he's a genius. This time he proves, it's possible to better Perfection. We say, hey baby, don't think, just go for BABY. Cinema at its very best!

Baby is a must-watch film with rich content. This action thriller will woo you if you are a fan of watching raw action where blood spills and guns are trotted. An honest work that dares to bare terrorism and its religious connection. What I loved most about the film was its quality to hook you and I am going with a 3/5 for this film.

The film works on many levels; effective lines, some laced with dead-pan humour (written by Neeraj Pandey), the break-neck pace, near-perfect casting and minimal melodrama. Akshay Kumar scores with his understated performance and a body language that's a perfect fit for an 'emotionless' cop with a single minded focus. Two minor complaints. Wish they had gone easy on the background score. Also, a glaring loophole involving a laptop belonging to a terrorist. Please watch this movie.

Overall, Baby will not only be one of the best films of the year but will also be remembered as one of Akshay Kumar's finest works. If Rajkumar Hirani is the king of slice-of-life feel good films, then it would be safe to say Neeraj Pandey is the king of the thriller- drama genre. Absolute must watch!

Eventually, Baby turns out to be one of the finest films ever made in Bollywood. With a superb (and topical plot), excellent treatment, wonderful performances, never-seen-before locations, fantastic background score and an authentic narrative, it is one film that should be on your watch list this season. Coupled with the fact that the release timing of this film, which doesn't try to be pretentiously patriotic, couldn't have been better, it would certainly come on its own by the time Republic Day holiday comes calling.

As far as the performances are concerned Akshay rides the whole film on his mighty shoulders. Danny as the senior officer of the covert operation commands unwavering attention. The veteran surely has enough fire in his belly, and tremendous versatility in his repertoire, that needs to be tapped into. Anupam Kher, being the exceptional talent that he is, delivers yet another endearing performance. He makes you giggle with just about enough dose of humour without resorting to antics or hysteria. Unfortunately, Menon has not exactly got the role his caliber as an actor entails (his silence–accompanied with subtle gestures and those ‘epoxy eyes’– speaks volumes, but even that need some screen-space, right?) and Tapsee Pannu has done a fine job. The man mountain Rana Daggubati has a ‘massive’ screen presence that overshadows the hulk’s attempt to show that he can act.

It’s a no-nonsense non-sentimental movie that shows the governments how to tackle the terror menace that is plaguing the nation. People who love the nation ought to watch Baby. In fact, this movie should be played in Parliament and in state assemblies to inspire and instill some patriotism and love for the country.
Should be watched by every Indian.
